About Colleen
I’m Colleen Lehman (she/her), a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in the state of Ohio. I specialize in working with adult (18+) couples and individuals seeking support in better understanding themselves and showing up in their life/relationships in a way that is aligned with their values and emotional needs. I provide counseling that is queer/LGBTQIA+, kink, poly/ENM, and neurodiversity affirming. My practice is grounded in antiracist, anti-ableist, and intersectional feminist values.
As a late-identified neurodivergent clinician, I strive to create a safe space for clients and couples to connect with their authentic selves - a space that feels safe to unmask even if for a short time. For some people, that might mean kicking off their shoes, sitting on the floor, turning overhead lights off, using a fidget, or having no expectations for sustained eye contact that feels forced/uncomfortable. I know the difficulty and intense vulnerability that comes with trying to unmask in therapy after a lifetime of masking to survive, so we will only take things at a rate that aligns with your goals, needs, and comfort.
My Approach To Counseling
My approach to counseling is primarily person centered (or couple-centered). I believe that you are the expert in your life and relationships, and that I am a resource to help you reach the goals that you have for your life/relationship.
I approach counseling from an ecological systemic lens, meaning that I am mindful of the fact that people and relationships can only be understood within the context of their families, communities, governments, societies, cultures, economic systems, point of time in development of their life, and point of time in history that they/we are in.
The Clients that I Serve
I primarily work with adult (18+) individuals with ADHD, AuDHD, or Autism. I also work with clients who are seeking to heal their relationship with sex/sexuality. This might include unlearning shame from sex negative messaging that comes from society, media, or religious indoctrination.
I enjoy working with couples who are seeking to increase their emotional, physical, or sexual intimacy with each other. I deeply value working with couples who have different identities from one another and want to honor these differences while also meeting one another where they are at. This might include couples who are cross-cultural, interracial, mixed-faith, or neurodiverse.
